Oxandrolone

Oxandrolone is anabolic steroid that was created in 1964 by Searle laboratories (USA) and then more than 25 years was sold under the brand name "Anavar".

The idea of the drug was in the introduction of the heteroatom in the structure of the steroid molecule. After several unsuccessful experiments oxygen atom was introduced in the ring A, which led to the creation of the drug, named after Oxandrolone.

The first experiments on lab rats have shown a sharp decrease of nitrogen in the urine. This meant that for treated animals there was an increase in protein synthesis by muscle fibers. At the same time, muscle growth is practically absent.

In July 1989, production of Anavar had been discontinued, but its analogues continue to be issued until now. Famous bodybuilder Mike Christian admitted that Oxandrolone was his first anabolic steroid and it helped him to achieve impressive results in increases of strength and muscle mass.

Usage

Unlike the vast majority of anabolic steroids, Oxandrolone is not the primary use in the sport. This drug is very widely used in medicine. As for sports, Oxandrolone is mostly used in athletics, swimming etc. For power sports such as bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongmen, the steroid is used much less often.

As mentioned above, oxandrolone greatly enhances the synthesis of creatine phosphate by muscle fibers. This gives a significant gain in strength without increasing muscle mass. This property of Oxandrolone is invaluable for the athletes of light weight categories.

Thus the primary use Oxandrolone is a power gaining. Despite the fact that oxandrolone very well stimulates the androgen receptor, its use even in very high doses does not lead to a significant increase in muscle mass.

At the same time, oxandrolone is almost the most powerful antikatabolist. That is why this steroid is often used in between cycles to maintain muscle mass as well as in preparation for a competition where the use of testosterone propionate is undesirable. Oxandrolone has also another unique feature. Due to its anti-catabolic activity, it has absolutely no effect on the body's own production of testosterone.

In addition to stimulation of androgen receptors, the steroid also leads to an increase in their number, including in adipose tissue. Thus Oxandrolone manifests itself as a fat-burner.

Side effects

Almost complete absence of side effects makes Oxandrolone one of the most safe steroids. It is not aromatized and in any dosage does not affect the production of endogenous testosterone.

Nevertheless, being the 17-alpha-alkylated, Oxandrolone is theoretically toxic to the liver. However, in practice there was no violations of the liver when using this drug.

Another possible side effect is diarrhea. However, this effect was observed in a very small number of athletes, and only at high doses.

Dosage

Effective dose of Oxandrolone for the athletes of power sports is a dose greater than 50 mg per day. However, you will not be able to achieve significant increases of power without the use of other anabolic steroids.

In the intervals between cycles it is possible to reduce the dosage to 30-40 mg per day. The half-life of Oxandrolone is 8-9 hours, so a daily dose of this anabolic steroid should be divided into 3 equal parts and taken at regular intervals.

Combination with other drugs

Oxandrolone provides good support of muscle mass in cycles with testosterone or nandrolone. It is also a good idea to combine the steroid with methandienone and oxymetholone.

At the stage of "dry" Oxandrolone creates good conditions for the action of ((clenbuterol-hydrochloride|clenbuterol). To increase the power performance without significant increases of the muscle mass Oxandrolone is best used with stanozolol. In preparation for a competition combination with drostanolone (Masteron) or fluhydroxymesterolone gives muscle hardness. Finally, in the breaks between cycles taking Oxandrolone can be combined with taking Andriol or methenolone.

Cycles

Oxandrolone is usually used as part of a cutting cycle, when combined with Steroids such as Trenbolone the results can be very good. At a dosage of 50 to 100mg daily the results from Anavar can be very pronounced, however due to Anavar being very expensive not many people could afford to run it at this dosage, but times have changed and with all the underground labs popping up and producing Steroids it is now quite easy to find cheap and effective versions of Anavar. Because Anavar is an oral Steroid it can be harsh on the liver so its not recommended to use for longer than 6 weeks.
