Increase DHT naturally

What if I told you there was something stronger than natural testosterone that's in your body right now? How about some more strength, muscle and lower estrogen? That would be nice wouldn't it? Of course it would be, but there are so many guys out there that are trying to lower it. There is plenty of misinformation out there about this hormone, so I thought I would give everyone my opinion and show exactly how to increase DHT levels naturally.

What are the benefits of raised DHT?

  • It Makes a Man..a Man (male characteristics such as body hair, sex organs etc…)
  • Better Mood
  • Better Brain Health & Function
  • Increase in Strength
  • Better Sex Life
  • Improved Body Composition
  • Blocks the conversion of Testosterone to Estrogen (aromatisation)
  • I also saved the best for last.

DHT is roughly 3 times stronger than testosterone and has a much greater androgen receptor uptake when compared.

Those are just some of the benefits of what a raised DHT level can do for you, and as the lifter, or even the regular guy on the street, I'm sure you will agree that any one of us would like to have even a few of them.

Why are guys trying to lower DHT?

Two main reasons: Hair and Prostate.

One of the downsides to raised levels of DHT is the fact that it can accelerate the rate at which you lose hair. It must be said though that it will increase the rate only if you have family history of hair loss. Everyone has their own opinion, but I would rather choose the high level of DHT.

Note: I have never suffered from hair loss while increasing my DHT levels.

Let's move on to something a little less vain DHT causes an enlarged prostate.

It is thought that heightened levels cause an enlargement of the prostate gland. This isn't really true. You see, without DHT, the male sexual organs don't develop and that includes the prostate. It is actually Estradiol (a female hormone), and not DHT, that is more than likely the one that enlarges the prostate.

One of the more popular ways to lower DHT is by taking 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. These inhibitors work by reducing the conversion of Testosterone to DHT. A supplement that does this and is used quite often is saw palmetto. The reason why I don't like saw palmetto is the fact that it is added in a lot of Testosterone products as a Test booster, yet what I have found is that when you block this conversion of Testosterone to DHT, what happens? Yip, you end up feeling weaker and you have a decreased chance of building that extra bit of muscle.

So, we have gone through what it is, and we have gone through the dangers (if you believe them). Now we get to take a look at what supplements and lifestyle changes we can do to increase this hormone.

  • Creatine
  • Zinc
  • Korean Ginseng
  • Nettle Root

I have tried all of the above on a regular basis, and I can say that they work very well.

There are another 2 things you need to do in order to boost that DHT, and that is to start losing body fat. The more fat you have, the more estrogen and less testosterone you have. Secondly, start getting more dietary fat in. I would recommend at the very least 30% of your diet from fat. Eat more Monounsaturated and Saturated than Polyunsaturated, as poly has been linked to decreased Testosterone.

Before raising your DHT levels, it would be a wise choice to get full blood tests to see where you’re at with all your hormones it's better to be safe.

Other than that, like I said before - I have never had any problems when I have raised my DHT, only the benefits I mentioned in the beginning of this post.
